getting ready for summer... and peanut :o)

So yesterday we went out into the sunshine trying to get ready for next weekend. All being well, at this stage, we will have a brand new entertaining area - well the beginnings of it anyway.
The form work is up and ready and the rest will hopefully be done before the concrete truck arrives on the weekend... we cannot wait.

We also began painting the fence out the back (when I say me, I mean, Mark painting and me keeping him company :oD).
We finally chose the colour this week - colorbond, Jasper - and I am so excited to see it finished. Here is the start of it.

Progress has continued this week with the arrival of 24 tonne of fill. As you can tell by the photos there is alot more needed, but the most important part is done now if we want our concrete to be poured next week. Fingers crossed that there is no more rain for a few weeks.

the nursery, almost done.

Our furniture for the nursery has arrived, Yay!!! I am so glad that we got the chocolate colour. All that needs to be done now is the fit out for the built in and we are done.

we're getting there.

A little more progess has happened, and a little less has been scratched off the list (and alot more is added). But I guess that is always the way :D.

We have recently had a bobcat come and scrape the land in preparation for turf. Mark has also been busy trying to finish off the retaining walls and drainage also.

Here are some pics.

the making of a nursery...

In true first-time-parent form, we have already started the nursery. I know what furniture to get but so far we have begun with the painting... here are some pics

we're back.

Well, we are back. It has been a crazy last few months for us, and it seems my morning sickness has eased so I am now able to share what we have been up to...that's right you heard it, we are having a baby. Our peanut is now 20 weeks and so that means we are due on the 3rd December 2010.
Naturally, we are more in a hurry to get the grass down now but it seems our progress is getting there, slowly.
Here's what we have done.

operation: retaining walls

So we finally took the plunge and ordered the materials for our retaining walls. There was a little bit of a delay in delivery as the Appin Stonemill were experiencing difficulty with their machines, but the time went rather quick and everything was delivered faster than expected.

Mark has started putting down the base to begin laying the blocks but it was kind of depressing seeing him dig all of the solid rock out for the trenches and only fill them back up again. I know it's for a reason and our walls will be alot sturdier this way.

I am so excited to see the progress.

flyscreens... done.

Well, it's definitely been a while since I have updated my blog but with Christmas and all the craziness that follows, it feels like not much has been done around the house.

But as I look back on the past 3 months, I am quite suprised at all the little things we have accomplished and am very excited at the plans that we have in store for our beautiful home.

Our flyscreen for the bifold window in our kitchen was done recently. I love it so much.
