timber floors ... done

So finally I have found the camera cable and as always, it was put in a safe place so that I wouldn't forget it.
Christmas day went off without a hitch and both Mark and I were so happy to have the floors done. I made for more a relaxing day, and to our amusement we found that it was us watching our family walk around in a panic saying 'don't touch that' and 'be careful of that', whilst we sat back and enjoyed the day.
So here are some long awaited pics of our gorgeous stringy bark flooring, sanded and polished. We are so happy with the water based finish that we got, the satin look is really nice, and it doesn't show up half as much dirt as what we had first imagined when we first decided to get the timber.

  1. Hi neighbour,we are on the other side of spring farm and are also building with wisdom.Just wanted to ask you how much would we get back if we were to do the floors ourselves?we are getting an upgrade on the floor tiles but the charges for laying 600x600 size tiles are way too much and just wanted to work out the difference between doing it ourselves or letting them do it.

  2. Hey, are you the wisdom home at the top of spring farm? (two storey) or the one on the lower part? (slab). Am looking forward to watching your build.

I am not sure how much you would get back as I don't know exactly how much per sqm we got but altogether we got just under 3k for ours.

I don't know if you have asked already but unfortunately they will not let you do your wet areas yourselves (so you will still have to deal with DL, hang in there :P), but I would DEFINITELY do the tiling in the living areas yourselves. DL are a rip off and they are one of the only things that made our experiece awful. We would never recommend them and we will definitely recommend wisdom not use them in the future.

  3. Hi Princessfee!we are the ones with the slab, first of all I hope I've made the right choice by going with wisom since I've waited such a long time(in my opinion)they nearly forgot to do our sunken home theatre.I've been following yours and other wisdom boggers from day one and we,ve got the same colour walls, your house by the way looks beautiful we have similar taste,Im building the providence 29.Thanks for replying so quickly I too think that DL are a rip off they're not even helpful they just left us there ,when we ask how much extra for laying bigger tiles they said they think it's an extra $38 per mtr that's gonna cost us thousands I would rather go with floor boards for that price cause thats what I originally wanted I was trying to save money .Thanks for your help see you round neighbour!

It's always exciting to read through articles from other writers and use a little something from their sites.
